CRD stands for the Central Registration Depository.
The CRD system is an online registration and licensing system for the U.S. securities industry, state, and federal regulators, and self-regulatory organizations (“SROs”), such as FINRA. The CRD system contains broker/dealer information, associated person information, and information filed by regulators. A CRD contains a broker’s licensure status, disciplinary actions with regulators and customer and investor complaints. It will also contain a broker’s education and career history.
By using BrokerCheck an investor can access some of the information available in the CRD.
